The Earth Institute and Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (EI/LDEO) seek applicants for the 2011-2012 Marie Tharp Fellowship. Fellowship awards may used to pay salary, research, and travel expenses over a three-month period during the time span of September 2011 through August 2012 and must be taken in residence at one of the earth science units of the Earth Institute at Columbia University.

The competition is open to junior and mid-career scientists in the earth sciences. Applicants must hold a PhD at the time of application. The goal of this award is to promote women in science. Full-time or adjunct faculty and researchers at Columbia University are not eligible to apply.

Application deadline: Thursday, 31 March 2011.
