The Georges Lema?tre Centre for Earth and Climate Research (TECLIM; www.uclouvain.be/teclim) / Earth and Life Institute of the Universit? catholique de Louvain (Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium) is seeking a postdoctoral fellow for participation to the EU FP7 project COMBINE (Comprehensive Modelling of the Earth System for Better Climate Prediction and Projection; www.combine-project.eu). The research will consist in:

1. contributing to the coupling of the new version of the Louvain-la-Neuve sea ice model, LIM3 (www.climate.be/lim), with the Institut Pierre Simon Laplace (IPSL, Paris, France; www.ipsl.fr) climate general circulation model (GCM),

2. participating to the validation of the coupled model, with focus on sea ice, and

3. quantifying the feedbacks related to sea ice in climate change projections performed with the coupled model.

This work will be done in close collaboration with IPSL. Frequent visits to this lab are expected.

The candidates should have a PhD in physical climatology, oceanography or marine glaciology. Expertise in conduct and/or analysis of GCM simulations will be a plus.

The position is offered for about 2 years and will be available in February 2011, but the start date is flexible. Applicant review will start immediately.
