The Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska Fairbanks is seeking a Postdoctoral researcher.

This is an opportunity to work on a long standing and highly productive glacier mass balance project in Alaska. This research will analyze laser altimetry and LiDAR data on glaciers across Alaska and adjoining Canada, calculating elevation changes, volume changes and mass balance. This dataset includes over 16 yrs of data on over 200 glaciers across the region. A priority and emphasis will be placed upon glaciers within Alaska's National Parks, particularly within Wrangell St. Elias, Glacier Bay, Katmai, Lake Clark, Kenai and Denali. The successful candidate will have experience in remote sensing, LiDAR and GPS data analysis, and an interest in measuring and modeling Alaskan glacier ice loss and contribution to global sea level rise. Annual salary for this position will be within the range $50-55k, DOE. The project is funded for 2 years. Postdoctoral positions are awarded for a one-year period consisting of a 9 month contract plus 3 month contract extension; this appointment may be renewed in a one-year increment for a total maximum of two years.
