ARC SUPER SCIENCE FELLOWS IN SEA LEVEL RISE IMPACTS ACROSS THEBIOPHYSICAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

Applications are invited for up to five Super Science Fellows toundertake exciting research on the future impacts of, and responses to,sea level rise on the Australian coastline. International applicants areencouraged to apply. The prestigious ARC Super Science Fellowshipscheme targets early career researchers (within three years ofcompleting their PhD) who have a strong track record in research anddiscovery. The Fellowships are funded through two projects which willexplore the impacts of sea level rise on the Australian coastline, anddeveloping decision support, adaptive guidelines and strategies forresponses to these impacts.
The Fellowships require expertise in one or more of the following areas(as related to sea level rise and other coastal issues):
1. Spatially explicit modeling;
2. Analysis of wetland or marine ecosystems responses;
3. Economic geography;
4. Urban planning,
5. Legal, policy or governance frameworks.
The Fellowships will be based at the Global Change Institute at theUniversity of Queensland headed by Professor Ove Hoegh-Guldberg, andwill be supervised by leading international experts from across therelevant disciplines including Peter J Mumby, Hugh Possingham, JohnQuiggin, Andrew Griffiths, Stuart Phinn, Colin Woodroffe, SarahDerrington, Catherine Lovelock, and Tiffany Morrison. The five Fellowswill be expected to interact closely as group in order to developmultidisciplinary solutions and outcomes for responding to rapid sealevel rise. Five Fellows will be offered a full-time position, fixedterm for three years from commencement date. Start dates are negotiable,but Fellows applying under Project One will need to start before 31December 2010.
