Two post-doc positions in satellite remote sensing/ice sheet massbalance at the Un. of Bristol
16-Apr-2009
Two post doctoral at the University of Bristol

The University of Bristol has two post-doctoral positions in satellite remote sensing and ice sheet mass balance research.

The two posts are based in the Bristol Glaciology Centre working on a European Union project, ice2sea, which aims to explore present-day and future contributions to sea level from glaciers and ice sheets. This is a collaborative project involving ~ 25 partners internationally. The aim of the two posts is to produce a time series of mass trends for Antarctica and Greenland from a range of satellite observations combined with climate and statistical modelling. For post I, you should have experience in the analysis of 4-D data, preferably from satellite remote sensing related to glaciology. For post II, you should ideally have experience in mass balance studies of ice sheets/glaciers and a strong background in glaciology and/or climatology. Initially, funding will be for a period of two years with salary in the range £29,704 - £33,432 depending on experience.

If successful, you may be appointed either on a fixed term or a permanent contract depending on the extent of your previous relevant research experience, in line with the University's Fixed Term Contract Agreement.

Further information on post I can be found at: http://www.jobs.ac.uk/jobs/FJ837/Postdoctoral_Research_Assistant/

and for post II at: http://www.jobs.ac.uk/jobs/FJ838/Postdoctoral_Research_Assistant/

Interviews are likely to be held in the week starting 11th May 2009 or following week, and the expected start date is 1st June to 1st October 2009.
