The Department of Geography at the University of British Columbia invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Quaternary Geomorphology. The successful candidate will have research and teaching interests that contribute to existing departmental strengths, preferably including one or more of the following areas: glacial processes and landforms, reconstruction of Quaternary environments, and modelling of landscape evolution. An interest in research and teaching related to the human dimensions of environmental change would be an asset.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in Geography or a closely related discipline, demonstrated excellence and high promise in research, and a strong commitment to teaching. The successful applicant will be expected to establish an externally funded research program, develop courses in his/her area of specialization, and contribute to the teaching in our undergraduate and graduate programs. The appointment will be effective July 1, 2009, and is subject to final budgetary approval.
