A PhD position is offered within the Cryosphere Group at the Department of Geosciences, University of Fribourg, Switzerland.
The position includes active participation in planning and conducting model and/or field activities within the group.
The research topic for the PhD can be defined within one of the following research areas:
- Geophysical investigations in the Alpine cryosphere, such as ground-penetrating radar, seismics, geoelectrics or other methods
- Measurements/modelling of surface and subsurface processes within alpine permafrost including the interactions with atmospheric, hydrologic and geomorphological processes.
Qualifications:
- Master/Diploma in Geosciences or equivalent qualifications
- willingness to conduct fieldwork in high mountain environments
- excellent scientific computing skills
- good communication skills in English
- capability to work within a multi-disciplinary team with a high degree of collaboration
