I would like to draw your attention to a post currently being
advertised on the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) website that may be of
interest to those with interests in polar oceans and/or ice shelves:
http://www.antarctica.ac.uk/employment/vacancies/job.php?JobID=358
This three year appointment forms part of a Natural Environment
Research Council (NERC) funded project to study ocean circulation and
ice shelf melting on the Amundsen Sea continental shelf. Central to the
project will be the deployment of the NERC autonomous underwater vehicle
Autosub-3 beneath Pine Island Glacier. The successful applicant will
participate in a two-month research cruise to the Amundsen Sea aboard
the US icebreaker Nathaniel B Palmer in Jan/Feb 2009, to run the Autosub
missions, after which they will work on the processing, archiving,
analysis and publication of the resulting datasets.
The closing date for applications is 6th July 2008. Full details and
application forms can be found via the above URL.
I would be grateful if you could circulate this information around
colleagues who may have an interest in this post.
Many thanks,
Adrian
